About Us
Mike Walmsley is the president and owner of Cobalt Hospitality Consulting. With 30 years of food and beverage industry experience combined with several years teaching hospitality management, Mike is uniquely qualified. He has worked from coast to coast with both major hotel chains and independent operations. He has management experience in Accounting, Purchasing, F&B Control, Bar Management, and most recently has worked as Purchasing Manager for a major supplier to the industry. Mike's wide-ranging experience allows him to look at an operation from all sides and see things others might miss.
By combining his degree in economics from the University of Victoria, a teaching certificate and hands-on experience in the hospitality industry, Mike is able to identify cost-cutting measures, find efficiencies, and make recommendations to help increase profits. He has the experience to be able to create and deliver training programs that give employees the confidence to do their jobs well, thereby increasing job satisfaction and decreasing employee turnover.
